The book focuses on Bastian Balthazar Bux, sadly suffering from the dead mother trope, and neglected by his father. When I heard that the writer disliked the film, it made me all the more curious as to what had happened and what was translated so poorly to the big screen. So, it is quite a wonder why I was interested in reading the book to begin with. Skip forward two decades, and I’m being slowly traumatised by the giant animatronic Falkor, the luckdragon. He wanted nothing to do with the piece, citing it had deviated away from the story he was trying to tell. Most famously, however, is how ‘The NeverEnding Story’ film adaption was completely rebuked by Michael Ende and saw him remove his name from being associated with the production at all. It was 1979 when Michael Ende first saw his fantasy book published in Germany, and it wasn’t until 1983 that the English-speaking audience was gifted with a translated edition. We see his career shaped by his resolute determination to improve the life of his fellow citizens, an unfaltering commitment to civil rights, and an exceptional understanding of the practicalities of political life. It shows us the progress of a remarkable American, who, through his own enormous energies and efforts, made the unlikely journey from Hope, Arkansas, to the White House - a journey fueled by an impassioned interest in the political process which manifested itself at every stage of his life: in college, working as an intern for Senator William Fulbright at Oxford, becoming part of the Vietnam War protest movement at Yale Law School, campaigning on the grassroots level for Democratic candidates back in Arkansas, running for Congress, attorney general, and governor. PRESIDENT BILL CLINTON's My Life is the strikingly candid portrait of a global leader who decided early in life to devote his intellectual and political gifts, and his extraordinary capacity for hard work, to serving the public. Dust jacket has some wrinkling, chipping and crease on the edges and corners, book has a few light stains/smudge on the page edges, dust jacket and book have some bumped corners, light discoloration and shelf wear. CV6 - A first edition (stated) hardcover book SIGNED and inscribed by Bill Clinton to previous owner on the title page in very good condition in very good dust jacket that is mylar protected. The dark mage lets Laya know that she is his mate and wife, hence the matching lily tattoo/birthmarks, and the goddess of night. The dark mage turns out to be a lost god and so are Thane and Laya. So I skipped ahead to the cliff hanger and man am I glad I didn't waste my time finishing. Overall, it turned out to be a dull read, wish it was better.ĭNF 45%, it was dragging and I didn't like how Laya was still dreaming/having nightmares about the dark mage and not telling Thane, felt like a cheap way to further the plot. I like my girls to be selfless, especially when they are in a powerful position but Layala was not and that irked me big time. ❌ The FMC- She became unbearable, selfish. ✅ The characters- Excluding Layala, everyone was good enough. But I cannot ignore the fact that I did not enjoy the majority of the book. The introduction of the love triangle certainly makes things interesting. ✅ The romance- It's not just Thane and Layala's chemistry. From the first page itself the whole vibe of the book felt off (yes I'm gonna take the vibe of the book as a valid reason to dislike it). Well this one made the first book look absolutely fantastic and now I am rethinking my whole experience reading that book.īut anyway, I am truly disappointed with this one. Later, when she was a freelance writer living in London, she had two young daughters who also loved to dance. She grew up in Chicago with three sisters, and they spent hours dressing up and dancing around the house in ballet costumes, made by her set-designer father. Holabird - like a lot of children - loved to dance as a kid. "She's feisty and she has a lot of emotion. "She's this marvelous character," says Holabird of the little white mouse in a pink tutu. "She danced all the time and she danced everywhere, and often she was so busy dancing that she forgot about the other things she was supposed to be doing." "More than anything else in the world, Angelina loved to dance," writes Katharine Holabird on the first page of her classic 1983 picture book, Angelina Ballerina.
